9th
District Congressional Candidate says Term Limits are a No-Brainer.
Ben
Franklin said it and so does Tom Guleff
Memphis
, TN. February 6, 2006—Money and influence-buying was a worry to
Ben Franklin and the founding fathers and it continues to be a hot topic in
the 9th District today. 9th
District Congressional Candidate Tom Guleff announced today that he formally
commits to a policy of no more than 3 terms as a representative, that’s six
years in the House of Representatives.
There’s good reason that term limits were favored by the founding
fathers and its called corruption and abuse of power.
“We’ve got to get these politicians into a 12-step program and off
the addictive perks of power.” The
argument that government business requires some level of experience is bunk.
Government is way too involved in its citizen’s life. Government is
bigger than ever with more lobbyists, lawyers, bureaucrats and staffers all
having their hands in the till. Tom Guleff states, “If I’m elected I want to
know there is a term limit and therefore I’ll get in there and do the will of
the people and move on out.” He will sign a pledge to this effect and sends
out the challenge to all candidates to make the same commitment. It’s a
no-brainer. There are no term limits for Castro. There were no term limits for
Sadaam Hussein. These are big, bad
examples of why term limits are important. “Let’s not stop there, because we
have some great examples of why we need them in this town”, commented Mr
Guleff. Shelby County Chancery Court
has ruled that term limits are constitutional.
Tom Guleff
as a running candidate has come out hard against the status quo.
Term limits is just one issue that must change. For more about Tom
Guleff’s pledge to commit to a policy of term limits, contact electtomguleff@aol.com.
